2008 Sugarloaf Late Bottled Syrah
Tasting Notes
Had the Sugarloaf Mountain Syrah been bottled at it’s regular time it would have been spectacular. Instead, after additional time in oak to gain complexity and greater integration, it’s now stupendous. It is the epitome of Syrah: ripe, rich black and red fruits, juicy plums, smoked meats and smoldering campfire. Then come the herbs and flowers, a lovely mélange of green peppercorns, rosemary, juniper and purple blossoms. It’s ready to go now and is sure to impress. This will be a wine to watch over the next 4-6 years as it deepens and grows increasingly beautiful.
