2017 Red Hen Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

A complex nose of blackberry, cherry, and currant swirls in the glass with sweet baking spices and blue floral aromas interwoven with vanilla, chocolate, and toasted pipe tobacco. Layers of red and black fruit cascade over the palate with remarkable power and concentration giving the impression of rich, heady cherry liquor. Secondary flavors of black pepper, anisette, and graphite provide further complexity while punchy acids and fine drying tannins lend lift and structure to the muscular fruit profile. A very long, elegant, and balanced finish reveals a final insight into the high quality of Red Hen Vineyard’s low fruit yields and likewise this limited production cabernet.
