2009 Napa Valley Cuvee

Tasting Notes

Ripe plums, dark cherry, blueberries, and black currants are prominent against a more subtle backdrop of graphite and crushed minerals. Well-appointed notes of toasted anise, licorice, and baking spices coalesce with tanned leather, fresh cut wood, and violets. Mouth-watering tart cherries and bright acidity on the palate serve to balance out this wines velvety mouth coating viscosity and bold fruit character. This wine is extremely versatile and, while enjoyable on its own, would also be a great accompaniment to roasted or smoked meats and hearty soups or stews. Like many wines in this portfolio this wine has remarkable structure and will reward both the impulse to raid the cellar early, as well the patience to lay the bottle down for aging.
