2010 Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

This wine will become the new measuring stick for all Nicholson Jones wines going forward. Over the years, Fayard’s Nicolson Jones bottling’s have grown increasingly bombastic and voluptuous. While this wine is no departure from that general trend, the slow-ripening mountain fruit of this Mt. Veeder (black plum, coriander, herbals, evergreen, brisk acidity, and to-die-for-tannins) reaches a whole new echelon of finesse and precision. Though still an infant, this wine is already mind-bendingly complex and thrillingly delicious. It deserves a place among the top ranks of any Napa enthusiasts’ cellar; this wine outperforms nearly every valley floor bottling of double to triple its price. Wait 3-5 years, when the wine will really be in its strike zone, and then pop the cork to win friends and influence people.
