Tasting Notes

On the initial pour this wine displays loads of spice, ripe fruit, vanilla, and sweet wood notes with candied black cherries and currant on the palate, and an unambiguously rich expression of the fruit. Time and plenty of air will allow this vineyard site to show great complexity however, and the uniqueness of the Segassia vineyard site. Those with a bit of patience will begin to see subtle hints of tanned leather, black licorice, and dried herbs along with fresh notes of wet stone and tart red fruit that provide bracing acidity, and a center of origin. This wine pays homage to a producer that has a foot in the old world and new, and which seems to straddle that divide effortlessly.
